Nitrous Oxide Sedation (Laughing Gas)

At Gentle Touch Endodontics, your comfort is our priority. We are pleased to offer nitrous oxide sedation, commonly known as laughing gas, to help patients feel more relaxed during their root canal treatment.

What Is Nitrous Oxide?

Nitrous oxide is a safe and effective sedative gas that is mixed with oxygen and inhaled through a small mask placed over your nose. It helps reduce anxiety, promotes relaxation, and makes your dental experience more comfortable.

Benefits of Nitrous Oxide

  • Helps reduce dental anxiety and nervousness

  • Creates a feeling of calm and relaxation

  • Takes effect within minutes

  • Allows you to remain awake and responsive during treatment

  • Wears off quickly after the procedure

  • Safe for both adults and children

  • Helps make lengthy procedures more comfortable

What to Expect

Before treatment, you will breathe a mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen through a comfortable nasal mask. As the sedation takes effect, you may feel relaxed, light, or pleasantly calm. Throughout the procedure, our team carefully monitors your comfort and adjusts the level of sedation as needed.

At the end of your treatment, you will breathe pure oxygen for several minutes to help clear the nitrous oxide from your system. Most patients feel back to normal within minutes and can typically return to their daily activities.

Is Nitrous Oxide Right for You?

Nitrous oxide is an excellent option for patients who:

  • Experience dental anxiety or fear

  • Have a strong gag reflex

  • Feel nervous about root canal treatment

  • Have difficulty sitting comfortably for longer procedures

  • Want a more relaxed dental experience
