Pre-OP

Instructions

We deeply care about your comfort and relaxation. Our doctors use their professional judgement to determine if your endodontic procedure will be performed using local anesthesia. If it’s used, there usually aren’t any restrictions after the procedure concerning driving or returning to work.

You should continue all medications for blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid problems and any other conditions as recommended by your physician. If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to call us prior to your appointment.

Antibiotics

If your physician or dentist have advised you to use antibiotic premedication, please make sure you are on the appropriate antibiotic on the day of your appointment. You only need to premedicate for the treatment appointment. If you have a question, please call our office prior to your appointment.

Reducing Inflammation

If not allergic, you can take ibuprofen (Advil) or naproxen sodium (Aleve), it does help reduce inflammation when taken pre-operatively. We recommend 2 tablets of either medication 1 hour before your endodontic treatment.

However, if you have not been evaluated before, we recommend that you do NOT take any pain relievers prior to your appointment (unless you are in pain and feel it is necessary); as we do not want to mask any symptoms in order to complete the most accurate evaluation possible. If you have any questions, please consult your medical physician.
